Our story
We're the Potters. And our story begins in the spring of 2008. Our tea story anyway.
We had decided our first international trip would be to Great Britain. What does one do when traveling to another country? Immerse oneself in the culture, of course. We were at The Crooked House of Windsor and had the best cup of tea we've ever had. No flavorless tea bags here, just pure, flavorful loose leaf tea (although with cream and sugar). And it just clicked.
You see, we were never ones to drink coffee and the sweetness of cider and hot chocolate had begun to wear thin. So being able to adjust the tea with cream and sugar to suit your mood was a revelation.
When we came back home, there wasn't really a great selection of local places to get loose leaf tea so we resorted to ordering online. Earl Grey and English Breakfast were our goto's but we also started exploring other flavored teas.
Unfortunately, you usually had to order at least 2 oz and pay for shipping, making it quite costly endeavor. Also, you just had to go by the description and hope it tastes as good as it sounds. After getting a few bad-tasting teas (now you have at least 2 ounces of tea that you're not going to drink just sitting in your cupboard for a few years until it actually goes bad so you don't feel bad about throwing it out and wasting it), we had the thought that it would be nice if there was a local tea shop that you could try the tea out before you buy it. We joked that we should just do it since there really wasn't anything nearby.
As the years went by, it became less of a joke and more of a plan. In 2017, we made it a reality and opened our store up in downtown Meridian.
Then three years later, COVID19 happened and we shut down the storefront so here we are, in the dark recesses of the internet, keeping our dream alive until we can return to the Treasure Valley. Don't worry, we're online now so even if you aren't in Idaho, we'll treat you like a local.
